National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) hosted a delegation from the Chicago Council of Global Affairs (CCGA) on May 18, 2023. The delegation, led by President Daalder, consisted of 18 members who were interested in gaining more insight into the history and development of semiconductor technology in Taiwan.

Founded in 1922, CCGA is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing knowledge and engagement in global affairs. CCGA has leading experts and empowers more people to help shape the global future. Through a unique combination of content, engagement experiences, and in-depth research and analysis, CCGA help more people deepen their understanding of the world and how they can make tangible impact, in ways big and small.

The highlight of the delegation visit to NYCU included a comprehensive overview of talent incubation and industry co-creation in the field of semiconductor technology in Taiwan and at NYCU, including its history, current trends, and future prospects. The delegation also had the opportunity to visit the Hsinchu Science Park, where they were able to see the development of semiconductor technology as an industry in Taiwan.

During the visit, President Daalder expressed his appreciation for the warm hospitality extended to the delegation by NYCU, and highlighted the important role that Taiwan plays in the global semiconductor industry. He also underscored the significance of collaboration and knowledge exchange between leading institutions around the world.

Overall, the visit was a valuable opportunity for both the Chicago Council of Global Affairs and National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University to deepen their understanding and strengthen the partnerships between Taiwan and the US in this critical field of technology.
