The school sports meet and sports week recently took center stage in a highly anticipated annual event. The festivities kicked off with a series of entertaining competitions and challenges, complemented by fitness assessments and diverse sports workshops aimed at encouraging the participation of students and faculty. The goal was to expose everyone to various sports, fostering a vibrant atmosphere and cultivating a love for physical activity.

The enthusiasm of faculty and students jointly kicked off the 2023 school sports meet.

The opening ceremony featured a catchy slogan on the backdrop: 'Why not run two laps instead of scrolling through the same IG friend posts?' This sparked conversations. Despite the persistent drizzle outside, the enthusiasm and energy of both students and faculty remained high as they gathered in the gymnasium to celebrate the opening ceremony of the 2023 school sports meet.

First-year students, athletes, teachers, and parents gave their all, both in performing and cheering inside the gymnasium, setting the stage for an exciting two-week sports extravaganza.

The creative entrance of first-year students showcased imaginative dances and entertaining short plays from 22 different departments, eliciting laughter and cheers from the audience and transforming the gymnasium into a lively and bustling hub of joy and excitement.

Marching in uniform steps and chanting slogans, the Systems Engineering Bachelor's Degree Program demonstrated a combination of academic prowess and physical prowess, earning them the 'Best Performance Award.' Meanwhile, the Mechanical Engineering department, themed 'I Have a Dream' and complemented by a sizeable handmade tank, clinched the 'Best Design Award.'

The Department of Transportation and Logistics Management, with a short play depicting a train derailment, secured the 'Best Creativity Award.' The Dental department, presenting handcrafted tooth models and a humorous slogan, claimed the 'Best Comedy Award.' Meanwhile, the Communications and Technology department's outstanding dance performance earned acclaim from the entire audience and won the coveted 'Best Surprise Award.'

NYCU strongly emphasizes sports activities, with plans to build an enormous gymnasium to accommodate athletes and students.

Principal Chi-Hung Lin expressed regret due to weather constraints that prevented outdoor activities, meaning students and teachers alike had to make do in the gymnasium, limiting their full participation. Playfully teasing the crowd, he asked, 'Don’t you think we should have a bigger gymnasium?' The sentence sparked cheers from the crowd and planted the seed for the school's plans, hinting at the possibility of building their own Taipei Arena (小巨蛋).
